Abacus finishes the renovation of the Gold Room Mezzanine at the Marion Knott School of Film

12 / 13 / 2011

Abacus has provided project management services to renovate the Gold Room Mezzanine at Chapman University's Marion Knott School of Film. This room is used to house cameras, fixtures and other equipment necessary for filming movie scenes on and off campus.

The renovation project included demolition, construction of a 1,898 square foot mezzanine, and the installation of a vertical lift. With this, the space of the existing Gold Room has been doubled. Abacus and its project team performed the work in a very limited timeframe in order to have the new space available for the Fall 2011 semester.

Abacus has been the program management company for Chapman University during the last ten years, being in charge of several projects of different characteristics. Among others, Abacus was the project management company from the pre-design to the closeout phases on the construction of the 76,000 square feet Marion Knott School of Film, finished in 2006. The school serves as a world-class production and teaching facility that includes the key working environments of the entertainment business; sound stages, pre– and post– production facilities, a top-tier theater complex and a Foley stage.
